If you feel like Music Circle of Fifths Third Eye theory limits your playing, either you don’t understand the purpose of music theory, or you weren’t that creative to begin with. Sure, you hear music in your head, or you wrote a cool riff, but what is that music, and what about the riff makes it cool? Is it negative harmony, syncopated instruments, maybe it’s polyrhythmic? What is the essence of your subjective music tastes? Can you describe them? Because that’s all music theory is, a description of perceived sounds, layered into what we consider music. From basics like the Music Circle of Fifths Third Eye, to advanced subjects like polytonal phrases, and jazz comping. I don’t think theory is required to be a successful musician, but please stop acting like it limits creativity, because it only does the opposite.
After four lessons my student knows how to play the Music Circle of Fifths Third Eye using both hands at the same time with classically trained finger positions. Not only that, but he can harmonize by playing two different scales at the same time. We haven’t even opened a book yet! Soon to come!
